Heads of Mission of the ASEAN Committee in Ottawa (ACO) convenes 286th Meeting

16 July 2024, Ottawa - Ambassadors and High Commissioners of ASEAN Missions in Ottawa met today to discuss plans, activities, and programs for the 2nd half of 2024. Of particular note is the upcoming ASEAN Day and ASEAN Food Festival on 08 August 2024, where ASEAN missions hope to raise the profile of the organization among the Canadian public.  Last year, both ASEAN and Canada decided to elevate their relations to a Strategic Partnership, signifying a mutual recognition of each other’s relevance in their respective foreign policies, economic priorities, and promoting people-to-people exchanges.

Global Affairs Canada’s Director General for Indo-Pacific Strategic Policy, Planning and Operations, Amanda Strohan, joined the ACO Heads of Mission in a working lunch where she shared Canada’s priorities in the region and how these priorities are decided in the context of Canada’s global engagements, as well as in response to events of international significance.

Ambassador Kallayana Vipattipumiprates participated at the 286th ACO Heads of Mission Meeting, held at the Philippine Embassy under the current Chairmanship of the Philippines for the latter half of 2024.
