Royal Thai Embassy in Ottawa Accompanied Canadian Business Delegation in Clean Energy to Thailand

During 14-17 August 2024, the Royal Thai Embassy in Ottawa brought business executives from leading Canadian companies in clean energy to Thailand, to enhance cooperation in technological transfer and business partnership between Thailand and Canada, in collaboration with the Embassy of Canada in Bangkok, the Business Council of Canada (CABC) and GAT International Co., Ltd., the organizer of the SustainAsia Week 2024. The mission was attended by Mrs. Janet De Silva, Co-Chair of CABC and Canada’s Representative to APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC), as well as the executives from AtkinsRéalis Canada Inc., SixRing Inc., Quadrogen Power Systems Inc., Dimonoff Inc. and AB Catalyst Ltd.
 
On 15 August 2024, the Canadian business delegates attended the Opening Ceremony of the SustainAsia Week 2024 at BITEC Bangkok, followed by the business-matching session, which was well attended by executives from Thai business conglomerates and associations, namely PTT Group, PTTEP, SCG, Mitr Phol Group, ALT Telecom, Thai Eastern Group, as well as the Thai IoT Association, the Thai Wind Energy Association, and the Nuclear Society of Thailand. On this occasion, Mrs. De Silva delivered keynote remarks at the CEO Energy Forum regarding Canada’s experience of Ontario and Canada in clean energy transition, and AtkinsRéalis Canada Inc. and Dimonoff Inc. received the annual SustainAsia Week 2024 Awards at the dinner reception in the categories of “Successful SMR to Grid of the Year” and “Best Climate Technology for Net-Zero Co 2, ” respectively. During the visit, the delegation had the opportunity to have paid courtesy calls on H.E. Ping Kitnikone, Ambassador of Canada to Thailand, and Mr. Thidade Eiamsai, Deputy Governor of Power Plant Development and Renewable Energy, the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), as well as meeting with representatives of the Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency, the Ministry of Energy of Thailand, and the Board of Investment of Thailand, to exchange information and discuss ways to enhance cooperation in partnership development in clean energy and reduction in carbon emission between Thailand and Canada. Moreover, Mrs. De Silva and the executives from AtkinsRéalis Canada Inc. also held meetings with Assoc.Prof. Pasit Lorterapong, Secretary General of the Office of Atoms for Peace, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, and Assoc.Prof. Thawatchai Onjun, Executive Director of Thailand Institute of Nuclear Technology (Public Organization), as well as executives from several Thai energy conglomerates interested in developing nuclear power production technology in Thailand.
