On 20 June 2024 at 17.30 hrs., H.E. Kallayana Vipattipumiprates, Ambassador of Thailand to Canada, hosted a Business Dinner Reception in collaboration with the Canada-ASEAN Business Council (CABC) at the Thai Residence in Ottawa. Mr. Nanthapol Sudbanthad, Director of the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) New York Office, was also present at the Reception The Reception was well attended by high-level representatives from public and private sectors, including The Hon. Clément Gignac, Senator and Co-Chair of the Canada-ASEAN Parliamentary Friendship Group; Mr. Wayne Farmer, President of CABC; Ms. Thi Be Nguyen, Executive Director in Canada, CABC; Mr. Todd M. Winterhalt, Senior Vice-President, International Markets and Head of Communications and Public Affairs, Export Development Canada (EDC); Mr. Wilson Pearce, Senior Director, Global Business Development Operations, Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC); Mr. Dominic Jacques, Deputy Vice President, International Development, National Bank of Canada; Mr. John De Boer, Senior Director for Government Affairs and Public Policy, Blackberry; Mr. Maaz Yasin, Director, Global Strategic Partnerships, Blackberry; Mr. Bill Hawkins, Managing Principal, GrowthBridge; Mr. Jamie Read, Founder and CEO, BriteBirch Collective; and Mr. Noppadol Pringvanich, CEO, BearCat AEL.

On this occasion, H.E. Ambassador Vipattipumiprates commended the works of the CABC and emphasized that Thailand is an ideal location for Canadian businesses in the Indo-Pacific region. Mr. Sudbanthad gave a presentation on the tax and non-tax incentives of FDI in target industries in Thailand. Moreover, Senior Vice-President Winterhalt, EDC, also announced that EDC will be opening a new office in Bangkok in 2025 as part of its global Indo-Pacific expansion strategies, and participants exchanged views on how to promote trade and investment opportunities and strengthen business relations between Thailand and Canada.
