On 14 July 2018, the Royal Thai Embassy in Ottawa, together with the Thai Trade Centre, Toronto, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Toronto, and the Office of Agricultural Affairs, Washington D.C., organized the 5^th Destination Thailand festival at Yonge-Dundas Square to showcase Thai culture right in the heart of downtown Toronto.

In the opening remarks, Mr. Benjamin Sukanjanajtee, Chargé d'affaires a.i., highlighted the significance of the festival and expressed his appreciation, on behalf of the Thai people, to the Canadian public who extended their kind support and well wishes for a successful rescue operation of the 13 victims trapped in a cave in northern Thailand.

Throughout the day, visitors from all walks of life experienced “Thainess” at the festival, through cultural performances, food, products, and Thai massage.
