In total, 106 young Canadians and Thais aged 10-25 participated in the programme.
The programme was launched for the first time in eastern Canada, in collaboration with Muay Thai gyms and highly experienced Muay Thai instructors or “Kru Muay”, with an aim to teach traditional Muay Thai basic skills, “the Art of Eight Limbs”, to the young participants. The programme has encouraged physical exercises, while instilling the Thai tradition through outlined learning such as the act of “Wai Kru”, to show respect to their teachers. Trainings in this Muay Thai arts also boosted self-confidence and improved concentration and self-discipline of individuals. As a result, this was a great opportunity to introduce the Thai martial arts and inspire the young generation to improve themselves, both physically and mentally.
On this occasion, His Excellency Kallayana Vipattipumiprates, Ambassador of Thailand, presided over certificate awarding ceremonies for those who completed the programme at Siam No. 1, Toronto, on 22 September 2023, and at N1 Muay Thai Boxing Academy, Ottawa, on 23 September 2023. Overall, the programme was well-received and the young learners expressed their interest to learn the next level of Muay Thai skills.
