On Monday 22 April 2024, H.E. Kallayana Vipattipumiprates, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Canada, participated in and delivered opening remarks at the business roundtable in Montreal hosted by the Canada-ASEAN Business Council (CABC) and the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) New York Office, to promote Canadian investment in Thailand. Participants at the roundtable included representatives from the Canadian public, private and academic sectors.

Ambassador Vipattipumiprates underscored the importance of enhancing bilateral relations between Thailand and Canada, and updated the meeting on the developments of various factors that would support trade and investment between the two countries, for instance, the ongoing FTA negotiations between ASEAN and Canada, which is expected to be concluded in 2025, and Canada’s Indo-Pacific Strategy.  Moreover, Director Nanthapol Sudbanthad of the Thailand BOI New York Office then gave a presentation on investment opportunities in Thailand, emphasizing recent initiatives and policies to promote investment in Thailand, and the targeted industries in Thailand. Participants had a lively discussion on how to expand and deepen investment linkages between Canada and Thailand.

Following the roundtable, Ambassador attended a meeting with Vincent Joli-Coeur, Vice-Chairman, Financial Markets, National Bank of Canada, to discuss potentials and opportunities for enhanced business links with Thailand.
