On 4 December 2018, the Royal Thai Embassy in Ottawa hosted a reception to celebrate the Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, Thailand’s Father’s Day, and the National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand at the Adam Room, Fairmont Chateau Laurier hotel. Among the many distinguished guests in attendance at the event were the Honourable Deepak Obhrai, MP and former Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Harold Albrecht, MP, Mr. Donald Bobiash, Assistant Deputy Minister, Asia-Pacific, Global Affairs Canada, senior government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, the friends of Thailand, and members of the Thai and Canadian communities. To showcase Thai cultures and traditons at the reception, there was a live Thai classical performance in honour of His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej and His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun by the Thai Dance Troupe of Ottawa as well as the authentic Thai cuisine prepared by the Ambassador’s kitchen.
