Raising the bar for Thailand-Canada relations

Eying even closer ties and collaboration between Thailand and Canada, His Excellency Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Ambassador of Thailand to Canada, has kicked off his meetings with Canada’s public and private sectors as well as his ASEAN counterparts in Ottawa.

On 12 April 2018, Ambassador Maris paid a courtesy call on Mr. Donald Bobiash, Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM), Asia-Pacific, Global Affairs Canada. Both sides discussed areas that would move Thailand and Canada to closer cooperation by identifying common goals particularly in the fields of trade and investment, sustainable development, innovation, as well as education and accreditation.
 
On 10 April 2018, Ambassador Maris Sangiampongsa met with Mr. Jerry Sherman, Director of Embassy Connections Canada, to explore ways and means of enhancing Thailand-Canada relations, including business-to-business ties and networking with governmental agencies and non-governmental groups in Canada.

On 12 April 2018,  Ambassador Maris attended the ASEAN Committee in Ottawa (ACO) Head of Missions' informal meeting with Mr. Philip Eng, non-resident High Commissioner of Singapore, at the Vietnam House to discuss ASEAN-Canada relations and Singapore's chairmanship of ASEAN in 2018.
